WELL WATER TESTING RECOMMENDATION

The Powder Ridge subdivision/condominium development project has been reviewed and approved by the Department of Environmental Protection (Site Location Order # L-16360-L3-A-N). During the course of that review, the DEP required routine evaluations for potential groundwater impact from the use of on-site wells and septic systems. Robert G. Gerber, Inc. was retained by Glover Development Corporation to conduct this evaluation and make any necessary recommendations to protect groundwater quality. As you will note in your deed and/or the Powder Ridge Homeowners Association Declaration of Covenants, the location of your septic system is specified, as are limited locations for your well, and in most cases, the use of peat sewage disposal systems have been specified. The specification of locations for your well and septic system and the use of the peat disposal system are all measures designed and approved to protect water quality.

As a final safeguard, the DEP has required Glover to recommend to each lot owner that they have their domestic well water tested annually for nitrate and coliform bacteria levels, and that recommendation is hereby made. In fact, such annual testing is generally a sound recommendation any time that an individual has a private well as a water supply. Unlike public or community water supplies which must be tested frequently by the operator, your water supply will only be checked when you test it.
